For the next 50 years, Tulsa Public Schools will be part of a lasting mark at Tulsa's Gathering Place park.

In celebration of its first anniversary, the Gathering Place created a time capsule that represented the community's best wishes for Tulsa. The park invited several members of the community to be a part of this project, including Tulsa Public Schools!

Nicole Powell, Tulsa Public Schools' 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year, stood alongside many other community members to put pieces in the time capsule that mean something to them.

"I'm so excited to be here today and be a part of such a momentous day and get to contribute our piece from Tulsa Public Schools to be opened in 50 years," Nicole said.

Tulsa Public Schools added to the time capsule an article highlighting our 2018-2019 Teacher of the Year, Nicole Powell, and Support Employee of the Year, Donna Garner, a shirt from our athletics department, and a copy of our 2018-2019 Annual Report.

"Our Annual Report shows the important work happening in our district to transform academic, personal, and social outcomes for the nearly 40.000 young people we serve," Nicole said. "We hope that future generations will enjoy learning about the ways that Tulsa teachers and school leaders are cultivating joyful and engaging learning experiences that prepare every child for success in college, career, and in life."

We are so excited to be a part of the Gathering Place's time capsule, but we are even more excited to continue to provide the best education for Tulsa's youth for the next 50 years and beyond!
