Connie Evans has been selected as the 2022-2023 Mitchell Elementary Support Employee of the Year!

Connie has worked at Mitchell for ten years. She serves as the financial clerk managing activity funds, registrar overseeing the school records, and attendance clerk helping students get to class.

Even though her days are busy, she said she tries to stay positive and keeps a basket of chocolate on her desk to help get through tough days and celebrate great ones.

Connie worked for 30 years in retail management, so her time at Mitchell has been the start of a second career for her.

"I have always loved being around kids. They really do keep us young. I thought I could make a difference in some small way," she said. "My favorite part of the job is feeling good that the teachers, staff, and parents can count on me to be there when they need me to support them."

They were able to support her too when she had a house fire last January.

"I was blown away by the sharing and caring of not just the staff here at Mitchell but the people at the enrollment center and ESC -- from prayers, gift cards, hugs, uplifting conversations, and check ins. Principal Shelton gave me the time I needed to take care of myself and my family. To all who stepped up to cover for me, I will forever be grateful for my Mitchell and TPS family."
